Lighted ET Tube Exchange Catheter
This is a new product which is under development. Endotracheal tube exchange catheters have been used in both human and veterinary medicine for years. The advantage of the ET exchange catheter is that its small diameter (approximately 5 mm) allows much easier visualization of the glottis for the insertion of the catheter. Once the catheter is inserted, the proximal end of the catheter is put through the Murphy Eye in the ET tube and slid down the catheter, past the glottis for insertion. The catheter is then pulled out.
This new product is intended to light the area around the distal end of the catheter so it is not necessary to use a laryngoscope for its insertion.
